Some ritualists in Kwara State have dismembered a man and poured acid over the remains to aid faster decay six days to his wedding.
Olokose Ojo, the victim, is said to have given his neighbour, Kazeem Mohammed, N350,000 to arrange three cows for his wedding. When they got to the bush where they allegedly said cows are sold at Patigi, Patigi Local Government Area, Mohammed and his gang attacked Ojo and dismembered him.
They packed his remains into a sack and deposited it at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital morgue. They also called Ojo’s family, claiming to have abducted him and demanded N12 million ransom which was negotiated to N3 million. The sum of N1.2 million was also withdrawn from his account via his ATM card.
It was alleged that Mohammed had twice served jail terms.
Ojo, said to be in his early 30s and a staff member at the National Health Insurance Scheme unit of the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital had planned getting married in Akure, the Ondo State capital, in March before he was murdered. His family collected his remains on Tuesday.
Ajayi Okasanmi, spokesman of the police in the state, said investigation is ongoing.
