Five suspected armed robbers arrested in Abbatoir area, in Agege, Lagos, with two pump action rifles, two pistols, a police uniform and police identity card have named a senior police officer as their arms supplier. The men, intercepted while driving against traffic by a patrol team, led by deputy commissioner of police, Kokumo, said they got the weapons and the I.D card from the officer, named Muhammed, a chief superintendent, at the Force Headquarter, Abuja. Joel Ojo, the gang leader and police impersonator, said Muhammed was his friend and had given him the guns to aid his work as a security personnel. Ojo denied the allegation that he was an armed robber and claimed he was on his way to repair the guns. The men were paraded by Lagos police commissioner Fatai Owoseni, after they had been interrogated by men of the Speciall Anti-Roberry Squad.
