Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has warned players he termed ‘vacation players’, who have refused to work hard to break into the Eagles’ first team since they have been invited to the team. The German tactician has said that if the situation does not change, he would extend their invitations to other players who are ready to work for their slots.
“Some players have been invited for two matches but have yet to push for a place in the first team and now we wish to invite fresh players to do what they could not do,” Rohr said.
“The time is gone when a player comes for two matches, collects bonuses, allowances and ticket refund and does not measure up.
“What we need now are players who can fight for first-team shirts and so make the team more competitive.”
The Eagles face Algeria in their second World up qualifying match in Uyo on 12 November.
