A former senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Shehu Sanni, has expressed worry over the recent abduction of students, teachers and lecturers in academic institutions in Abuja, saying some schools have ordered their students to stay at home.
Sanni took to Twitter on Thursday to explain how schools in Abuja has ordered parents not to allow their children come to school till further notice due to the increased attacks on schools.
He tweeted: “This morning, some schools in Abuja have asked parents to keep their children at home pending the security situation. The monster has reached the centre,”.
In an earlier post, he wrote: “University lecturers and academics are becoming the targets of kidnappers; As we have seen in the attacks on the Ahmadu Bello University, Kaduna State Polytechnic and now University of Abuja.”
Six individuals were on Tuesday kidnapped from the staff quarters of the University of Abuja.
Those abducted were Prof. Bassey Ubom (including his son and daughter), Prof. Obanza Malam, Sambo Mohammed and Dr. Tobit.
It was gathered that the abductors have reached out to the families of their victims and have demanded the sum of N300 million.
