Students from various secondary schools in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, protested the proposed government policy to hand off some schools. The students in their large numbers were sighted around Oke-Ado area in Ibadan Southwest Local Government, where they reportedly destroyed a government-owned vocational training centre.

Occupants of the buildings were said to have scampered to safety as the protesting students smashed windows. Aside their claim of planned privatisation of their schools, the students alleged they were being asked to pay N1,000.
The protesters also visited the Broadcasting House, Dugbe, where they vented their grievance.
