President Muhammadu Buhari claimed on Wednesday that his recent visit to Adamawa and Yobe states in North Eastern Nigeria proves his administration’s efforts to improve the region’s security situation.
In a tweet on Wednesday, Buhari claimed that he had fulfilled a commitment he made in 2015 to combat terrorism in the northern region.
“My Visit to Adamawa and Yobe States this week stands as a reminder of the improvements recorded in the security situation in Northeast Nigeria. I have fulfilled the commitment I made to Nigerians in my 2015 inaugural address, to frontally and courageously tackle terrorism,,” Buhari wrote.
Previously, the North Eastern region was a hotspot for Boko Haram and other insurgent activities, with the insurgents killing many civilians and taking over territories in the region.
However, the All Progressives Congress took their campaign activities to states in the region earlier this week, allowing President Buhari to boast that his administration has effectively combated terrorism in the region.
