The Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions will on Tuesday commence a probe on Danladi Umar, Chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), over alleged assault.

Umar was last month seen in a footage kicking and slapping a 22-year-old security guard at Banex Plaza, Abuja. He was reported to have been infuriated after the guard, an employee of Jul Reliable Guard Services Limited, told him he had parked his car wrongly.

Istifanus Gyang, Senator representing Plateau North, laid a petition before the Senate on behalf of Clement Sargwak, the victim before Ahmad Lawan, Senate President, gave the order for the probe to commence.

Lawan ordered Ayo Akinyelure, Chairman of the Ethics panel, to investigate the matter and report back to the Senate within four weeks.
