The Socio-Economic Rights And Accountability Project (SERAP) has asked the Federal Government to publish details of the fund that will be used to vaccinate Nigerians against COVID-19, as well as the cost of transporting the vaccine.
SERAP made the demand in a post on Twitter on Saturday, shortly after President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo received their vaccine.
The Federal Government had in December 2020 said N400 billion would be needed for COVID-19 vaccines.
According to the civil society organisation, the cost of vaccinating Nigerians and transporting the vaccine must be made public, insisting that it is a human rights and public health issue.
SERAP urged that the Federal Government execute the vaccination programme with transparency and accountability because it is of public interest.
COVID-19: spending of N400bn to vaccinate Nigerians and N10.6bn on transportation is a public interest issue.
It's a transparency and accountability issue.
It's a human rights issue.
It's a public health issue.
Federal Government @NigeriaGov: Publish details including online.
