A set-to-wed National Youth Service Corps member, Omolola Abogunrin, was said to have been raped and murdered in Apata area of Ibadan, Oyo state in Southwest Nigeria. Residents around the crime scene believed Abogunrin was returning from church when the incident occurred. Splotches of semen were alleged seen in and around her genitalia, spurring a rape theory. Finger nails marks were seen around her neck region, a report, also, stated. The police said it arrested Abogunrin’s fiance, Olusola Babalola as part of its investigation. Babalola and the deceased had planned to be married at a Christ Apostolic Church in Ibadan two weeks away, the same day she would turn 29 years. The deceased graduated from the Polytechnic, Ibadan and had almost completed her mandatory youth service before her death. Adekunle Ajisebutu, Oyo Police Command spokesman, told the Nation, the corpse had kept in a morgue and investigation taken over by the state Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
