A total of 1,598 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has been confirmed in the country, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) disclosed late Saturday.
In a post on its Twitter handle, the centre said 461 of the cases were recorded in Lagos State, 206 in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), 197 in Plateau State, 168 in Rivers State, 116 in Kaduna State, 53 in Anambra State, 49 in Ogun State, 47 in Ebonyi State, 42 in Edo State, 32 in Sokoto State and 31 each in Imo and Katsina states.
A total of 30 cases were recorded in Oyo State, 27 in AKwa Ibom State, 16 each in Delta and Kano states, 15 each in Abia and Niger states, 11 in Ondo State, 10 in Bayelsa State, nine in Borno State, eight in Kebbi State, seven in Ekiti State and one in Jigawa State.
Seven new deaths were also announced, bringing the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in the country to 1,420.
These latest cases bring the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Nigeria to 108,943, with the virus spreading to all 36 states and the FCT.
