Shehu Sani, a former federal lawmaker, explains why Nigerian youths should not be begged or cajoled to vote wisely.
In a tweet on Sunday, Sani cited the deplorable state of the country’s education sector as the reason why Nigerian youths should not be coerced into voting wisely.
“After showcasing their Children’s matriculation and graduation in the best school abroad,Increase of tuition fees in Federal and State Universities is the parting gift of those in power to poor Nigerian students. The younger generation need not be begged to vote wisely,” Shehu Sani wrote.
His remark comes amid incessant lecturers’ strike that has left the country’s education system in disarray.
Recall that the Academic Staff Union of Universities went on strike in 2022 due to the failure of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration to meet the demands of the striking lecturers.
As the Mr Buhari administration has yet to meet the lecturers’ demands, there are indications that the union may resume their strike in 2023.
