Simon Ekpa, a self-styled disciple of Nnamdi Kanu, detained leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), on Wednesday criticised Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party for the 2023 election, for not speaking out against the recent killing of about seven youths in Awomama in Oru west Local Government Area (LGA) of Imo State.
Although multiple reports said the youths killed on Sunday were gunned down by Ebubeagu security outfit while returning from a wedding ceremony, Governor Hope Uzodimma claimed they were bandits.
Nnamdi Kanu’s brother, Kingsley ‘Kanunta’; Dumebi Kachikwu, presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC); Amnesty International; and Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide have all condemned the killing. Hence, Ekpa is not happy that three days after the attack, Obi, from Anambra State, is quiet.
“Those of you the lost souls, @PeterObi is yet to cough about the 14 youths killed in cold blood in IMO State by Ebubeagu but if it happened in the North, he will be the first to visit Kano,” the separatist wrote on his known Twitter handle.
