The World Health Organisation (WHO), has warned that smokers are likely to face severe symptoms of Coronavirus, if infected.
The world health body, on its verified Twitter handle on Wednesday, said the severity of the symptoms can lead to early deaths.
The warning comes, as WHO raises alarm over attempts by lobbyists to get tobacco shops listed as ‘essentials’, and also offer free delivery of tobacco products to people in quarantine.
“Tobacco lobbyists have tried to manipulate #COVID19 policymaking to get tobacco shops listed as ‘essential’ & offer free delivery of tobacco products to people in quarantine.
“Smokers likely face more severe symptoms if infected, leading to hospitalizations & premature deaths,” WHO tweeted.
