Femi Fani-Kayode, a Peoples Democratic Party chieftain, has commended President Muhammadu Buhari over the bi-lateral agreements he reached with Russia President, Vladimir Putin, on the sideline of the ongoing Russia-Africa Summit in Sochi.

According to a statement issued on Wednesday by Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, the two leaders have agreed to start new infrastructure projects, expand trade and investment, security and military cooperation.

He also said they agreed to fast-track and pursue the completion of all abandoned projects initiated by both countries, among others.

Reacting to the development on Twitter, Fani-Kayode, a critic of the Buhari-government, said Russians are more dependable than others, who abandon Nigeria in the face of challenges.

“I am glad that Nigeria and Russia are getting closer & I am delighted at the fact that @MBuhari is in Sotchi right now to build stronger ties. Unlike others, Vladimer Putin and the Russians are strong and dependable allies who do not abandon their friends in their time of need,” he tweeted on Thursday.

About 250 Nigerian businesses are also said to be participating at the summit, which ends on October 25.
