An unidentified Nigerian soldier has reportedly shot a Customs officer to death at Seme border in Lagos State.
According to Daily Trust, the incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday.
The newspaper said an eye-witness disclosed that the killing has caused tension to rise in the area, as there are fears of a clash between soldiers and customs officers at the border.
The report said the source who pleaded anonymity, revealed that the trigger-happy soldier was suspected to be under the influence of alcohol.
“It’s possible that the soldier was under the influence of alcohol because no one expected him to behave in such a strange manner,” he said,
