Some Soldiers fighting Boko Haram insurgents in the northeast, who complained about an alleged deduction from their allowances may face disciplinary action.

Daily Trust reports that the soldiers are in parts of Adamawa North and Borno South.

Some of them in Madagali alleged that N9,000 was removed from their January allowances and that after lodging complaints, the Army Headquarters sent a team on fact-finding mission.

It was gathered that after the team interviewed over 12 soldiers from 143 Battalion in Madagali, they were refunded, but the money was retrieved later.

Many soldiers under 143 Battalion said they were upset for spending over five years in the battle front and were not allowed to visit their families.

They also alleged poor quality of food for which they paid N15,000 monthly from their allowances.

However, Lt. Abidoye Olusegun, the Army Public Relations Officer, at 28 Task Force Brigade, denied the allegations, saying the soldiers were given their dues.

“All these allegations are not true, all soldiers are paid their allowances and nobody is being short-changed,” he stated.
