Bashir Ahmad, a Personal Assistant to the President on New Media, has claimed that some persons are unhappy over the rescue of 344 students abducted from Government Science Secondary School, Kankara, last Friday.
Ahmad stated this in a post on Twitter on Thursday.
Aminu Masari, Governor of Katsina State, had on Thursday announced that the students were released after a mediation.
Ahmad alleged that some persons were happy when the students were kidnapped, in an apparent bid to mock the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration.
The presidential aide, however, claimed that the same persons were now sad that the students were rescued six days after their abduction.
Gunmen, now known to be local bandits, had invaded the school premises last Friday and abducted over 300 students after a gun duel with the police.
The abduction took place some hours after President Buhari arrived his hometown of Daura, which is some kilometers away from Kankara where the abduction occured.
Governor Masari insisted that no ransom was paid for the students’ release by their abductors.
Also speaking, Bellow Matawalle, Governor of Zamfara State, said the students were released after negotiation by his state government, the Katsina State government and Miyetti Allah, the umbrella group for cattle agriculturists in northern Nigeria.
