Southampton were four goals better than a lazy Arsenal team in their premier league clash on Boxing Day. Goals from Cuco Martina, Shane Long and Jose Fonte helped the Saints pick up three points and ensured Leicester City ended the day at the top of the Premier League. The Gunners had hoped to go top of the league after Liverpool had beaten leaders Leicester City. The loss leaves the team rooted to second place, two points behind Leicester City and one point ahead of Manchester City.
Earlier in the league, Guus Hiddink saw his Chelsea side play a 2-2 draw with Odion Ighalo’s Watford while Manchester United were beaten 2-0 by Stoke City. United’s boss, Louis Van Gaal now has the game against Chelsea to save his job.
