Chairmen of All Progressives Congress in Nigeria’s Southwest region has flayed the perceived ethnic and religious slant in the appointments made so far by President Muhammadu Buhari. The party chairmen, namely Olajide Awe (Ekiti); Henry Ajomale (Lagos); Issac Kekemeke (Ondo); Akin Oke (Oyo); Roqeeb Adeniyi (Ogun), and Gboyega Famodun (Osun) branches stated this in a statement jointly issued after their meeting. They warned of dire consequences for the country if the action is not remedied. They said except Femi Adesina, all other appointees are from the core north and Muslims. The APC regional leaders are equally miffed with Senate President Bukola Saraki and Speaker, House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara. They requested the two leaders of the national assembly to apologise to the party for their hurting actions against it.
“The two presiding officers of the National Assembly should apologise to the party to avoid compounding their problems”, the statement read.
Also, the chairmen noted some APC members are been denigrating a former Lagos Governor Bola Tinubu, while warning them to desist from the act. “Those trying either to intimidate or embarrass Tinubu to retrace their steps as the South-West’s response will shock everyone to the foundation.”
According to them, if this move is not halted, the reaction of the region could have dire consequences.
