The Federal Government will meet with the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) on Friday (tomorrow) over the ongoing industrial action started by the doctors last week.
This was disclosed in an invite sent to journalists by Charles Akpan, spokesperson of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, on Thursday.
According to Akpan, the meeting will take place at the ministry on Friday and be chaired by the Minister for Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige.
He noted that the meeting will be attended by representatives of both the resident doctors and the Federal Government.
The agreement between the FG and doctors broke down after the medical workers expressed lack of confidence in the Memorandum of Action signed with the government representatives last Wednesday, just before the commencement of the strike the following day.
But Ngige said the Federal Government has not only substantially met the seven-point demand by NARD, but “it has also demonstrated transparency in their implementation’’.
He stated that House Officers have started receiving their payments in the federal government teaching hospitals and federal medical centres across the federation, noting that they will all be paid by the close of work on Thursday (today).
