police-logoSome secondary students got more than they bargained for when they went seeking protection and knowledge-enhancing charms in Abeokuta, Ogun State. Their quest led to the death of a 16-year-old, Raimi Fatai, who died after consuming the charm. The students were said to have contracted a colleague whose father is said to be a witch doctor. Fatai was said to have fallen ill two days after swallowing the substance and was taken to the hospital where he died from complications.

The deceased parents had been confused by the sad occurrence and approached another parent who led them to the witch doctor. The case was reported to  the police and the body was released to the family for burial. The school management said the incident happened during the Valentine’s celebration and so they had no control over the situation.

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said they had a different account of the story. He said the police would do a thorough investigation on the case.
