Students Killed As Truck Rams Into Buildings In Ondo

About eight persons, including students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA), Ondo State, were killed in an accident on Saturday, after a truck lost control close to the campus gate.

The incident was said to have occurred at about 6:00pm.

According to reports, the truck, which was coming from Ikare Akoko area of the state, lost control and crashed into buildings used as business centres, shops and roadside-outlets.

Sympathisers were said to have engaged in rescue operation after the accident, bringing out the bodies.

However, eyewitnesses said the death toll could still rise.

Those who sustained injuries were rushed to various hospitals in the town.

Five persons had earlier sustained injuries during a gas explosion at Akungba Akoko.

The incident occurred few minutes before the truck accident.
