Sani stated this in a post on Twitter while reacting to the dethronement of Muhammad Sanusi II as the Emir of Kano on Monday.
According to Sani, had Tambuwal not been re-elected as Sokoto State Governor at the 2019 general elections, the Sultan, whom he described as “relatively mildly outspoken” would have been deposed.

“If Governor Tambuwal has not been re-elected, the relatively mildly outspoken Sultan too could have been sacked,” the tweet read.

Sani, however, did not provide any reason to back up his claim.
