Super Eagles new invitee, Semi Ajayi, has described Saturday’s Group E 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Seychelles as a must win game for the three-time African champions.
Nigeria and Seychelles are without any points following their defeats to South Africa and Libya on matchday one of the qualifiers in June 2017.
And Ajayi, who play for Championship club, Rotherham United, said the Super Eagles must give the game all the seriousness it deserves.
“It’s a very important game for us,” Ajayi said in a short video interview published on the Super Eagles’ verified Twitter handle on Friday.
“We didn’t win the last game (against South Africa) so it’s important we get back to winning ways.
“We need to make sure that we are focused, we don’t take it too lightly and approach the game in a professional manner and play to the best of our ability, listen to the coach and hope to get a positive result.”
The 24-year-old who was an Arsenal player from 2013 to 2015 but never made any competitive appearance, said he and his Super Eagles temmmates will be banking on the support of every Nigerian to achieve a positive result come Saturday.
He added:”We will love the support of every Nigerian back home. It’s very important for us. It will give us the confidence and motivation to do as well as we can for our country. So we are asking for their support and backing.”
