Femi Fani-Kayode, former minister of aviation, has said Michael Usifo Ataga, Super TV CEO, did not deserve to be killed because of his love for women.
Ataga was found in a pool of his blood after he was stabbed to death by Chidinma Ojukwu, a 21-year-old student of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) on June 15.
Operatives of the Lagos State police command, on Tuesday, arrested Ojukwu, with whom Ataga lodged in a hotel where he died.
The 300-level Mass Communication student, who was paraded at the police command’s headquarters in Ikeja area of Lagos on Thursday, had narrated the squabble that led to Ataga’s death.
She alleged that the deceased forcefully had sex with her.
Reacting in a series of Twitter posts on Saturday, Fani-Kayode defended Ataga and criticised those justifying his murder.
“Usifo Ataga was butchered in cold blood. The fact that he went to a hotel to sleep with a 21-year-old woman does not mean he deserves to be butchered,” Fani-Kayode tweeted.
“He was slaughtered and gutted like a barbecue pig in an abattoir and his blood was drained simply because he has a high libido and a weakness for women.
“Some people are now trying to rationalize his murder and justify it and they are claiming that he ‘deserved what he got! This is utterly shameful.”
