Some suspected cultists have beheaded one Ayodele Temilade, a student of the Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti. The headless body was dumped at the school gate on Sunday night.

Temilade’s killing comes five days after another student, Ojo Segun, was killed. Some students told Vanguard that the body was discovered at the gate around 10pm with machete cuts all over it.

However, a statement made by Ajibade Olubunmi, the institution’s Acting Director, Information and Corporate Affairs, said the body was found at the gate of the deceased’s residence as against the widespread claim that it was found at the school gate.

He said Prof. Samuel Oye Bandele, the Vice Chancellor, had declared war on the activities of cultists in the institution. He revealed that ‘Operation no cultism in EKSU’ had already been flagged off in response to the activities of the cultists.

Alberto Adeyemi, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Ekiti State Command, confirmed the incident but said it was unclear what department or level Temilade was before his demise. He said the case was being handled as a murder case until investigation is completed.
