Gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen have killed two aid workers and a volunteer working with 360HSCD, a Non-governmental Organizations (NGO) working on HIV/AID testing and counseling in Benue State.
The aid workers were said to be on routine weekend supervision at Tomanyi village in Guma Local Government Area of the state, when they were abducted.
According to Channels Television, sources in the village disclosed that herdsmen answered the telephone lines of the aid workers and confirmed that they had been killed when they learnt about their abduction.
The villagers said the herdsmen insisted that such killing would continue until the state governor, Samuel Ortom, repeals the prohibition of open grazing in the state.
The state had passed a law banning open grazing in favour of ranching in 2017.
It was further stated that eight corpses were recovered on Monday from Tomanyi by security forces, accompanied by youths from the area.
