A group of men suspected to be kidnappers, have killed one Osasu John Omoruyi in Benin City, Edo state capital. The victim was said to have been butchered after he was abducted from a popular drinking bar along Sakponba Road in the state capital.
The kidnappers reportedly carried out their mission without any hindrance due to power outage.
“I was relaxing in my balcony upstairs around 11.50p.m when I saw a saloon car driven on top speed into my street. The car later reversed and suddenly, I saw two men dragging a young man out of the car. They asked their victim to sit on the floor and were yelling at him. One of the men, afterwards, ran into the car and brought out a cutlass, which he used to dismember him,” a witness told TheGuardian.
Sympathizers later reported the case to operatives of the Esigie divisional police station, who came to remove the lifeless body.
One of the sympathizers said the police had used the victim’s cell phone to contact and invite the family members to the station during which they were informed of the incident.
