The Federal Government on Wednesday announced that only two conditions left out 12 requirements given to Twitter were yet to be fulfilled, stating that 10 were accomplished.
Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information and Culture, stated this while responding to a question from a participant at Nigeria International Partnership Forum in Paris, the French capital, on Wednesday.
According to Mohammed, the government has not lifted the suspension of the microblogging and social networking site because it has not fulfilled all the conditions issued to the company to operate in Nigeria.
The minister clarified that the suspension had nothing to do with the president, and expressed hope that all issues with the social media firm will be resolved in a matter of time.
Mohammed, who spoke in fluent French, said: “I want to categorically say that Twitter was not banned by Nigera, it was only suspended. So, Twitter was never banned, it was suspended.
“Also, the suspension has nothing to do with President Muhammadu Buhari. The correspondences correspondenceTwitter have reached an advanced stage. I want to say that the correspondences and the exchanges have been fruitful.
“But we have a few more issues to resolve. Out of about 12 conditions, Twitter has been able to meet 10. Very soon, all issues will be resolved in a way that it will be good for both our country and Twitter.”
