Members of Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) were so emotional in their mourning their church’s founder, Temitope Balogun Joshua, popularly known as Prophet T.B. Joshua to the extent they chased journalists away from the church’s premises on Sunday.
The church members, who had gathered as early as possible at the church premises and still in shock of the death of their spiritual father, were furious seeing officials allowing a crew of Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) into the church premises.
The members protested and demanded that the NTA crew and any journalist on ground should be driven away.
Reasons for their action, according to the members were they were so surprised to see NTA on the ground a few hours after T.B. Joshua died, while they were nowhere to be found when the man of God was alive doing good and miracles.
They said that the church has Emmanuel TV which is available for any journalist to pick contents and any other news item they would need on the deceased. They complained bitterly that they won’t allow journalists to feast on the death of Joshua.
It took the intervention of the security men on ground and some top officials of the church who appealed to the reasoning of the members, though it felt on their deaf ears.
The wife of late T.B. Joshua had to send a close aide to further appeal to the angry members that their action would send a wrong signal to the world, adding that her late husband was a public figure who would not condone their action.
As at the time of filing this report, photographs and any mode of recording were barred by visibly disturbed members inside the church premises.
Another Newsbreak correspondent who arrived at the church later in the day also witnessed church members and residents of Ikotun-Egbe chase away journalists from the Punch, Television Continental (TVC) and Africa Independent Television (AIT).
The members also reeled out the same reason earlier mentioned when the NTA crew came to the church and then insisted that the journalists leave the church.
Our correspondent noticed that TVC left some minutes after being chased out while others hanged around the area for a while.
