An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court has Friday remanded a 19-year-old boy, Francis Emeka, in prisons custody for allegedly robbing a woman with a toy gun.
The presiding magistrate, O.A. Akokhia, ordered that the defendant be remanded.
Emeka, who resides at Ajangbadi area of Lagos, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and armed robbery.
He allegedly committed the offences with others still at large on January 24 at Wolyboy Street, Ajangbadi in Ojo area of Lagos State.
The prosecutor, Benedict Aigbokhan, told the court that the accused robbed one Sarah Eloise of her phone, cash and other valuables valued at N305,000.
“The complainant was attacked while returning home from work at a bus stop.
“The accused forcefully collected her belongings at gunpoint but was apprehended by passers-by when the complainant raised the alarm,’’ he said.
Aigbokhan added that the offences contravened Sections 297 and 299 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
Ruling, the magistrate directed that the case file should be duplicated and a copy sent to the State Director of Public Prosecutions for advice.
The case was adjourned till March 30.
