A teenager, Fredrick Matthew Lochridge, 15, has been arrested on Sunday for shooting his 10-year-old sister, Isabella Heffernan. Hefferman was reported missing by her family, but later found in a field behind their home in Florida.
During interrogation, Lochridge offered different versions of events to the police, initially claiming that he shot Hefferman after mistaking her for a deer. He later changed his story, saying he fired the gun because he thought someone was attacking his sister but struck her instead. He also said, he was teaching Hefferman how to use a firearm when he accidentally shot her in the chest.
A report says he cleaned his sister’s body, dressed her in a white frock and dumped her in a large field behind their house.
Fredrick’s mother, Michele Lochridge, is also serving a prison sentence after being convicted of second-degree murder in the 2011 for killing her boss, Port St Lucie attorney Ashley Pollow.
