Lauretta Onochie, Senior Special Assistant on Social Media to the President, Muhammadu Buhari, has said that there will never be a Republic of Biafra again.

She said this after posting a video of Yakubu Gowon, former head of state, receiving Philip Effiong, then vice-president of Biafra, who led the surrender of the Biafran troops in 1970 to signal the end of the civil war.
“The very day nails were put in the coffin of Biafra. There’ll never be Biafra again, Never!” the President’s aide captioned the video.

The quest for Biafra is now being led by Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). The group was outlawed in September 2017 by a court. It’s activities were classified as terrorism.
