Just when you thought the keke love story ended, here’s a sequel from the writer! Maybe the love of your life is probably just waiting for you under Lagos’ rain. If you just arrived Yarn Central and haven’t read the first part of the story, the link to the story will be left below.
“Maybe it is just my luck or I’m bound to keep getting drenched in the rain every time I’m late. Yup, I’m late again today and there’s me running to find cover because guess who forgot her flimsy nylon raincoat at home? Now I’m running in Zeeworld style just to find cover. After finding cover, I secured a spot in the queue so I’d just fall back in once it was getting close to my turn.
After getting back in line, I felt someone step right behind me and when I turned, guess who was staring at me with a scooby doo goofy grin, wearing a very bright green shirt? You probably guessed right, it was the keke guy from the other day. Praise Jehovah! we met again and he kept his grin on his face until I was forced to return his grin. I turned away embarrassed. Now my lines had suddenly disappeared and I didn’t want to leave anymore, maybe I’m getting used to the rain.
Anyway, we didn’t speak to each other. I wanted to say hi properly but I couldn’t come up with anything. I felt a light tap on my shoulder and when I looked back, he was looking at me while his eyes were scrutinizing my hair before he finally asked “are those real dreads or are they artificial?”. I won’t lie, in that moment I bloomed with pride because of course, he found my hair intriguing enough to ask about it. With confidence, I replied “well yes, they’re natural” and then he said he liked them and my sassy self replied with “I like em too”. He didn’t stop staring at my hair neither did he say anything more so I felt like I had to ask a question too and then I asked him where his tablets and headsets were today. “They’re in my bag, yunno the rain won’t let me use them”, he replied and laughed.
There and then, I decided I was going to at least get his number before we left the bus stop. Indeed, that didn’t go as expected because two minutes later, he turned to me and waved me good bye he saw a colleague of his that was going his way. Here’s the thing, you might be wondering where this story is headed since I still do not have his number neither does he have mine but I will find solace in commuting to work with him. Yes, it is strange but it appears that we’ve bumped into each other a couple of times and just like I said initially, I am a superstitious person and though I’m not sure where this skinny love is headed, I am pretty certain that it is a sign from most high – We had our eye contact moment and I could swear that I saw love in his life.”
If you enjoyed reading this story and before now, you lost hope on meeting that special love of your life, take an umbrella and briefly walk under the rain, specifically around areas with keke or for a change, buses. After you’ve done this, send in your story at newsbreak.ng.
