Three people were hurt when a twin explosion rocked the All Progressive Congress (APC) rally on Thursday at the Rumuwoji Playground in Port Harcourt, the state capital of Rivers.
The state’s APC publicity secretary, Darlington Nwauju, confirmed the explosion and called it a regrettable development. Iringe-Koko, the state’s police spokesperson, was yet to comment on the development but promised to release a statement to its regard soon.
Because of the escalating rivalry among the state’s political actors, Rivers State has been identified as one of the states to be on the violence watch list. The recent development has, however, further heightened the political tension in the state.
