A building housing a convenience store collapsed in Indonesia’s South Kalimantan province killing three people and burying five others under the rubble, police said on Tuesday.
The Provincial Police Chief Inspector-General, Rikwanto, said 16 people were in the building, including workers and shoppers, when it caved in on Sunday.
He said eight people were also injured and were hospitalised.
He added that “the building is 20 years old, built on peatland.
“Maybe not in compliance with the building code.’’
A search for the five people trapped under the rubble continues, he said. (dpa/NAN)
