Reports claim the youths had stormed the fire service’s office, burning tires and causing unrest. Their anger is allegedly due to the service’s claim that poor machinery had made it impossible for them to combat the fire.
Despite being only 20 metres away from the market, their response time was reportedly slow. To battle the raging inferno, a reinforcement of fire fighter has been mobilised from Ibadan, the capital city and Ogbomosho, which is about 50 kilometres away.
