Former Governor of Enugu State, Senator Chimaroke Nnamani (PDP, Enugu), has called for a coalition between the South-East and South-West Nigeria to ensure that the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, emerges victorious at the 2023 Presidential election.
Nnamani, despite being a card-carrying member of the main opposition party, in a Twitter thread on Monday, called on Yorubas and Ibos to synergize to ensure that Tinubu emerges victorious in 2023.
“The Igbo has to retrace the steps of Okpara and Awolowo, The United Progressive Grand Alliance. An Igbo-Yoruba Alliance. It is not late for the Igbo to reflect on and carefully X-Ray the looming reality of a President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” a tweet by Nnamani read in part.
Going by party allegiance, Nnamani is supposed to work for the victory of Atiku Abubakar, the candidate of his political party, but he has, however, continued to drum support for Tinubu.
Recall that Nnamani was first listed among politicians on Tinubu’s campaign trail, but his name was later removed following the release of a revised campaign list.
Nnamani is not the only politician who will oppose his party’s nominee; there are indications that disgruntled party members, including Governor Nyesom Wike’s faction, may work against Atiku.
The Igbo Insularity and it's Yoruba Wahala. How did the Igbo get to this? Who sold this massive Con job? Who are the snake oil salesmen? Why the perceived mistrust of the Yoruba? We never fought? Our properties were never seized?
