In commemoration of the United Nations’ International Youth Day, All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, has praised Nigerian youths both at home and abroad.
Tinubu who lauded Nigerian youths in a video posted on his official Twitter handle emphasized the need for government to nurture young talented Nigerians to renew the hope of future generations.
The presidential candidate praised artists including Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage, Davido, Wizkid, and Tems.
He also lauded Nigerian athletes who competed in the recently finished Commonwealth Games in the United Kingdom and young people from Nigeria who are making waves in the tech industry.
“In entertainment, Nigeria youths rule the world from grammy award winner Burna Boy, to Tiwa Savage, Davido, Wizkid, Tems, and so many other fantastic artistes, our music is moving people and making them dance in major venues across the world, they are our ambassadors of hope,” Tinubu said.
“It’s the responsibility of the government to find and nurture these talented individuals that their success might bring pride, joy, and excitement to our people and renewed hope to generations of Nigerians to come,” he added.
“Nigeria is set to take its rightful place as a global powerhouse and it is the endeavour of younger Nigerians in business and technology, in entertainment and the arts, in politics and sports with the guidance of those that came before to lead the way.”
He thanked the Commonwealth Games athletes for “showing the world that Nigeria is not just a footballing nation.”
Nigeria, with a median age of 18.1 years, has the largest youth population in the world, with 70% of the population under 30 and 42% under 15.
