Bola Tinubu, the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has urged youths in Lagos State to shun acts such as thuggery and violence, particularly the destruction of properties, in order to propel the development of the state.
Tinubu, a former two-term governor, gave the advice at the inauguration of the Agege Pen-Cinema Bridge in Lagos State on Friday.
According to him, Lagos State can help the teeming youths achieve their dreams and reach their destination but stated that they must also help the state by avoiding violence and disruption of peace.
He said: “Don’t copy vagabonds and those who are into thuggery. There is no development if there is no peace. We must encourage peace. The government will ensure that you get the right education. Education is an investment in your future.
“Destruction and disruption will not help you to reach the destination you desire to reach. We will support your aspirations but help the state, ensure peace in our state and country.”
Tinubu also commended the state government for the completion of the bridge.
“Despite the turbulence and crisis of the virus, the lockdown, you are able to continue to deliver this state. You have shown great determination as a government,” he added
Lagos State suffered a barrage of violence, including killings and arson in the aftermath of the #EndSARS protest in October 2020.
