Nigerian world champion Tobi ‘Tobi Express’ Amusan has won the women’s 100 metres hurdles race to win a gold medal at the Stockholm Diamond League meeting on Sunday.
The defending champion of the women’s 100 metres hurdles category in the Diamond League ran a dominating time of 12.52s (0.9) to beat her closest challenger Sarah Lavin of Ireland, who ran 12.73s which was her personal best.
Meanwhile, Pia Skrzyszowska of Poland finished third in the race with a time of 12.78s. Some of the other events for the day including Pole Vault were disrupted and delayed due to heavy downpour.
“I am excited to be out here competing and it is great to get the win on the back of Lausanne (silver),” Amusan said.
“The rain stopped but it was still very cold. I am not very happy with where I am but I trust in the process even when it is not necessarily processing right.”
