A 20-month-old boy has died of leukemia after doctors failed to detect the disease in its early stages. The kid, Ryan Bhogal , had bleeding gums, bruises, rashes all over his body a lump on his head and he kept falling over. His parents, Kulvinder and Jaspal Bhogal, said of the 18 times they took him to hospital, the doctors failed to carry out a blood test. He was, however, diagnosed to be suffering from the disease two days before his death at New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton, England. When Dr. Indira Wariyar saw Ryan four times at Raynor Road Medical Centre, she said there were missed opportunities to save the toddler’s life. She said there had been a lack of medical continuity with Ryan’s care admitting that he had seen a number of doctors.
It also emerged that the cancer may have been detected earlier if blood tests had been taken when Ryan visited New Cross last August. Ryan’s father, Jaspal, described the loss of his son as terrible saying he was his world. The family have said they are considering taking further action against the doctor in practice and the hospital.
