VIDEO: Over 65,000 PVCs Burnt In Attacks On INEC Offices
Ahead of the 2023 general elections, atleast 65,000 uncollected Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) have been burnt after unknown gunmen attacked the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the Ede-South local government area of Osun state.
According to reports, the fire started in the early hours of Thursday but was swiftly put out by the fire service department in the state, preventing the fire from spreading from the conference hall, where it started to other sections.
A statement signed by Barrister Festus Okoye, National Commissioner & Chairman Information and Voter Education Committee, and released to newsmen on further disclosed that hoodlums carried out the attacks in Abeokuta Local Government and Ede South Local Government Areas in the two southwest states on Thursday morning.
Court Sets Aside Ruling That Convicted EFCC Chairman
The Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja dismissed the contempt proceedings and all instructions of conviction for contempt against Abdulrasheed Bawa, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday.
After hearing Bawa’s application, Justice Chizoba Oji halted the proceedings today.
The application was made in accordance with Sections 6(6) (a) and 36(1) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Constitution of 1999 (as amended), Section 91 of the Sheriffs and Civil Process Act, Cap S6 Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 2004, and other relevant enactments.
Soludo’s Comment Will Affect Peter Obi’s Presidential Ambition – Omokri
Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan has said that the remarks of governor Charles Soludo of Anambra will have an impact on the presidential ambition of the candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi.
In a tweet on Thursday night, Omokri, who had previously projected that Peter Obi would finish in a far third place behind Atiku and Tinubu, revealed that the Labour Party candidate would now finish in a distant fourth place behind Rabiu Kwakwanso of the New Nigeria People’s Party.
“After watching what Governor Soludo, said about Peter Obi today on Channels TV, I am no longer sure he can come a distant third in the Presidential elections. Obi may actually come a distant fourth, behind Kwankwaso. Soludo go chop insults from Obidients today!” he wrote.

The National Vice Chairman, North Central of the Labour Party, Comrade Adi Shirsha Adi is dead.
His death was announced by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Olufemi Arabambi.
The statement read, “the National Chairman, Barrister Julius Abure, on behalf of the National Working Committee and National Executive Council of Labour Party regrettably announce the death of our National Vice Chairman, North Central of the Labour Party, Comrade Adi Shirsha Adi who passed away on Wednesday evening after a brief illness”.
Arabambi described the passage of Comrade Adi as shocking, saying that his contribution to the enthronement of the people’s government will be sorely missed.
Man On The Run After Burning Wife To Death In Lagos
After allegedly setting his wife, Risikat, on fire at their home on Ayide Osolo Street in Divine Estate in the Ijanikin neighborhood of Lagos State, a man known as Akpos is on the run.
According to reports, Akpos and Risikat got into a fight while they were both in their home.
The fight erupted, and in his rage, Akpos reportedly poured gasoline on his wife and set her flames.
Akpos is alleged to have fled the scene after committing the murder and left the woman for dead.
As the incident was being reported at the Ijanikin Police Station for inquiry, some good Samaritans reportedly transported the man to a local hospital for treatment.

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2023 election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has welcomed reports that the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike and his group are favourably disposed to the resolution of the issues with the PDP candidate.
A statement on Friday morning signed by Paul Ibe, the Media Adviser to Atiku, obtained by Newsbreak.ng, also expressed the former Vice-President’s commitment to a negotiation “that will resolve the crisis of confidence and pave the way for a much stronger and united PDP”.
The presidential hopeful noted that never at any time of the differences that ensued have the doors been shut to Governor Wike and his group.
Peter Obi’s Investment In Anambra Now Worthless – Soludo
Anambra’s governor, Chukwuma Soludo, claims that Peter Obi’s investments in the state are now worth practically nothing.
Soludo disclosed this during a Channels Television interview on Thursday.
“There was something I read about somebody speculating about the value of whatever investment. What I have seen today, the value of those investments is worth next to nothing,” he said.
