Fuel Subsidy: NLC Declares Two-Day Warning Strike
The Nigeria Labour Congres (NLC) on Friday declared a two-day warning strike, beginning on Tuesday, September 5.
The NLC President, Joe Ajaero, made the declaration on Friday during a press conference at the Labour House in Abuja, while speaking on resolutions by the NLC National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting the previous day.
The organized labour on the 2nd of August 2023 protested the “anti-people” policies of the administration of President Tinubu.
Police To Arrest, Prosecute Users Of Unauthorised Siren, Tinted Glass
The Kebbi Police Command has ordered the arrest and prosecution of people using unauthorised siren, tinted glasses and unregistered vehicles.
SP Nafi’u Abubakar, the command’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), disclosed this in a statement made available in Birnin Kebbi on Friday.
Abubakar quoted CP Samuel Musa, the state Commissioner of Police, as issuing the warning to the general public in Birnin Kebbi.
Emefiele: DSS Arrest CBN Deputy Governor, Kingsley Obiora
The Department of State Services (DSS) has allegedly the deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in charge of economic policy, Kingsley Obiora.
According to Peoples Gazette, the CBN deputy governor has spent four nights in the custody of the DSS.
It was gathered that the secret police is looking into allegations of financial mismanagement under Godwin Emefiele, the suspended apex bank governor.
A source familiar with the arrest said he was being targeted as a principal witness against his boss.
Leaked Audio: Nigerian Policeman Allegedly Admits To Killing Suspect, Demands N10 Million To Kill Witness
An alleged phone conversation between an officer of the Nigeria Police Force and a businessman has been leaked online, with the former admitting to killing a crime suspect while still demanding a bribe to kill a witness.
In the leaked audio shared online by SaharaReporters, the officer confirmed he is serving in Zone 2, at the defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) office in Akure, Ondo State.
As heard from the audio, the police officer was threatening a businessman, informing him of impending trouble if he failed to redeem himself from a case of stolen goods allegedly supplied to him in Sagamu, Ogun State, Southwest Nigeria.
GOtv Boxing Night Returns, Holds 24 September
Premier boxing show, GOtv Boxing Night, will make a return on 24 September, the organisers have announced.
In a statement released on Thursday, Flykite Productions disclosed that the 29th edition of the Boxing show, licensed by the Nigerian Boxing Board of Control (NBB of C), will be held at the Molade Okoya-Thomas of the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos and feature six fights, including a national female cruiserweight title bout between Celina “Pretty Assasin” Agwu and Bolatito “Black Tito” Oluwole.
The welterweight division will see a national challenge bout between the very tough Taiwo “Gentle Boy” Olowu and veteran Ganiyu “Energy” Kolawole. In the bantamweight category, Tunde “Turning Star” Olojede would square up to Habeeb “Ige” Oladeji, while Sodiq “Happy Boy” Adeleke takes on Ibrahim “Golden Boy” Opeyemi.
