Francesco Totti says Arsenal flop, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, has the technical ability and desire to prove himself and become a success at Roma.
Mkhitaryan, 30, joined the Serie A club on a season-long loan deal from Arsenal at the start of September after seeing opportunities at the Emirates Stadium become increasingly limited.
The former Borussia Dortmund star had started just one of Arsenal’s opening four Premier League matches before making the switch to the Italian capital.
And although he was not viewed a crucial member of Unai Emery’s squad, Roma legend Totti is confident he can have a positive impact under Paulo Fonseca.
“Mkhitaryan can bring quality and quantity, so it’s a good move,” the 42-year-old told Sky Italia.
“He hasn’t always played regularly over the last two years at Arsenal, but I hope he can feel at home at Roma.
“The fans will certainly appreciate him here, as he has great technique and is eager to prove himself.”
Mkhitaryan joined the Gunners from Manchester United in January 2018 as part of a swap deal that saw Chile international Alexis Sanchez head to Old Trafford.
However, both players struggled to discover their best forms after that move and left their respective Premier League clubs for Italy on loan deals this summer, with the Armenian joining Roma and Sanchez heading to Inter Milan.
Mkhitaryan scored nine goals in 59 appearances at Arsenal but struggled to establish himself as a regular member of Unai Emery’s first team.
