Transfer
Ligue 1 side, AS Monaco have confirmed the signing of French-born defender, Malang Sarr.
The 23-year-old central defender joins on loan from Chelsea for one season with an option to buy.
Sarr’s loan to AS Monaco, which is now confirmed, reportedly contains a €12m buy-option as well (in addition to the €750k loan fee), which could turn into an obligatory clause should he reach a certain number of appearances for the club.
Once a very highly rated prospect, Sarr joined Chelsea on a free transfer two years ago after his development had stagnated at OGC Nice.
He spent his first season out on loan at FC Porto but stayed with the first-team last season making a total of 21 appearances as a backup.
“I am very happy to join AS Monaco and to be back in Ligue 1, a league in which I started and which I know well,” Sarr told Monaco’s website.
“I would like to thank the club for its confidence [in me]. I am now looking forward to blending in with my new surroundings and getting to know my new team-mates, with the desire to achieve a lot together.”
