Manchester United are in talks to sign Espanyol striker Raul de Tomas, according to COPE.
The Red Devils are working on a deal for the 27-year-old as they line up a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, who is reportedly pushing for a move away from Old Trafford.
Should negotiations advance quickly, United are set to pay around €30 million (£25m/$31m) for De Tomas, who scored 17 La Liga goals for Espanyol last season.
Meanwhile, some reports say Atletico Madrid manager, Diego Simeone, is still keen to bring in Ronaldo.
It is claimed that the club are doing everything possible to secure the funds for the move and its hierarchy are on very good terms with Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes.
Often considered the best player in the world and widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all time, Ronaldo has won five Ballon d’Or awards and four European Golden Shoes, the most by a European player.
