Alfonso Merlos, a Spanish television anchor, has been accused of cheating after a half-naked woman suddenly appeared in his live feed broadcast he did at home.
Following the outbreak of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) across the world, some broadcast journalists, including those in Spain, have been working from home.
During one of Merlos’ recent live broadcast from home, a lady apparently wearing only a bra was captured by the camera walking behind the journalist to a different section of the building.
It was, however, discovered by eagle-eyed viewers noted that the woman in question was not Merlos’s girlfriend, Spanish Big Brother star, Marta López, but rather a 27-year-old journalist, Alexia Rivas.
Merlos stayed quiet for days on the cheating accusations but later broke his silence on The Ana Rose Show on Monday, apologising to López.
The TV anchor insisted that he had broken up when Rivas was seen in his apartment.
He said: ‘If you think that my attitude has not been correct or that there are things that I have not done well, I have no problem asking for forgiveness, although my goal was not to harm someone else.’
Rivas also insisted that Merlos was single when she started dating him a few weeks ago, telling Socialité: ‘I didn’t get into a relationship, he told me he was single. We have been [seeing each other] three weeks.’
But López argued that she had not broken up with Merlos, claiming that they were apart for four days after having an argument over Maria’s ex, with whom she shares a son.
López called the incident ‘unpleasant’ and ‘shameful’.
The reality star told Spanish outlet Lecturas: ‘I had been mad at Alfonso for four days. He didn’t want me to do something that affected my family. I did it, and he got mad. We argue.’
She claimed that she had been in lockdown with Merlos since 12 March, just before Spain implemented measures to stop the spread of coronavirus.
