The studios of Hi-Impact TV, a High-Definition television station situated in Ogun State, was gutted by fire on Thursday.
The affected TV studio is located at Hi-Impact Planet Amusement Park and Resort in Ibafo, Ogun State, which is considered to be the largest amusement park in Nigeria.
Adeyeloye Lipede, the Managing Director of Solution Media and Infotech, the holding company of the TV station, confirmed the incident in a statement on Thursday.
According to Lipede, the cause of the inferno is yet to be ascertained, noting that no casualty was recorded and the park was not affected.
He stated that employees of the TV station quickly curbed the spread of the fire before the arrival of personnel from the Ogun State Fire Service.
The statement read: “At about 8 am today, Thursday 12th August 2021, the studios of Nigeria’s first full HD Television, caught fire.
“Staff of the TV station and that of the largest amusement park in Nigeria Hi-Impact Planet Amusement Park & Resort rose to the occasion by curtailing the spread of the fire before the arrival of men of Ogun State and Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) fire services who were able to put out the fire.
“No life was lost in the unfortunate incident and the Amusement Park & Resort is still intact.
“The cause of the fire outbreak is yet to be ascertained. The television station is an arm of Solution Media & Infotech and operates from the premises of Hi-Impact Planet Amusement Park & Resort located at Ibafo, Ogun State.”
Lipede added that normal activities at the park have been scheduled to resume by Thursday, August 19, 2021.
