Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, has revealed that users may experience a decline in the number of their followers while efforts are made to rid the microblogging service of all phony and fraudulent accounts.

Musk, who has since taken over as Twitter’s CEO and implemented a number of big changes to the microblogging platform, warned users that their following counts would decrease in a tweet on Thursday.

“Twitter is purging a lot of spam/scam accounts right now, so you may see your follower count drop,” Musk wrote.

While many have registered their displeasure with the new leadership of the social media platform, Musk has continued efforts to restructure the microblogging platform.
